Agathe et Gustave is an antique French cartonnage children’s book published in 1854. The moral tale follows two siblings: Agathe is consistently well-behaved, while Gustave gets into mischief and is corrected by the adults around him. Each episode teaches a lesson about behavior and consequences. The book contains an 1854 prize plate inscribed “A Souvenir of the Empire.”
