Hungarian Ash Sliding Book Rack
This English sliding book rack dates to circa 1860–1880 and is made with Hungarian ash wood veneer, brass, and painted porcelain. Engraved “Trussel Brighton,” indicating Henry Trussel as the maker, the piece also features brass and painted ceramic cherub details, as well as an engraving reading “Self Closing Book Slide, Betjemman’s Patent.” The bottom is lined with velvet to help protect surfaces.

Dimensions: 16" L x 7" D closed; extends to 26" L x 8" D x 7.5" H
One end slides all the way out, with chips on either side. There is some loss of wood along the corners, with additional chips and patina throughout. Please inspect photos carefully for condition.
