Mémoires de le Duc de Berry | French Royal Biography
Mémoires de le Duc de Berry is an antique French book published in 1820. Its title translates to “Memoirs, Authentic Letters and Documents Concerning the Life and Death of Charles Ferdinand d’Artois, Son of France and Duke of Berry.” The Duke of Berry was the son of the future King Charles X and was assassinated in 1820 by a Bonapartist. His wife was pregnant at the time, and the birth of their son after his death became a symbol of hope for royalist supporters. The book bears the coat of arms of the City of Paris and contains a prize plate from the Royal College of Henry IV.
